The Buccaneers dropped to 8-8 overall and 1-4 in region play. Kilgore continued its unbeaten streak and improved to 16-0 overall and 6-0 in region contests.
Blinn was paced by two freshman forwards as Sammi Fajana led the team with 13 points and Tyler Washington added eight points and 12 rebounds.
“Kilgore is a very good basketball team,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “I’m proud of the way our guys competed and played hard. We never stopped playing and played hard until the final buzzer.”
The Buccaneers return to action Saturday when they play host to Navarro College in a region matchup at 4 p.m. at the Kruse Center in Brenham. Blinn will also play a makeup region game against Tyler Junior College at 4 p.m. on Sunday, also at the Kruse Center.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
