Blinn College women’s soccer earned its third Region XIV victory of the season with a 6-0 road shutout of Trinity Valley Community College on Friday in Athens, Texas.
The Buccaneers improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the region on a rainy afternoon in Athens. The six wins are tied for the most in program history since Blinn launched women’s soccer in 2018.
The Bucs have now also recorded four shutouts this season.
“It wasn’t the prettiest win due to weather, but a win is a win,” said Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson. “We got the result we wanted, we were able to play everyone, and we got the clean sheet. We look toward the next game to have a great performance and continue to take strides in improving the program.”
Sophomore midfielder Rileigh Toner opened the scoring for the Bucs in the second minute on an assistant from freshman midfielder Eleanor Sargeant. Sophomore forward Emeyda Cruz buried a feed from sophomore midfielder Brianna Hoffman in the 11th minute, freshman forward Marissa Aparicio scored on a give from sophomore forward Paola Brizuela Razo in the 13th minute, and Brizuela Razo scored on an assist from freshman midfielder Annika Murdoch in the 17th minute.

After the intermission, Hoffman made it 5-0 with help from Cruz in minute 82, and sophomore forward Haylee McBride capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 87th minute.
The Bucs totaled 18 shots, including 12 on goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Madison Ortiz earned the victory with the 90-minute shutout and made four saves.
Blinn received votes in the latest NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer poll, a first for the program, and the Bucs will aim to make their case for the top 20 when they host Region XIV foe Paris Junior College at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19, at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
