Blinn College men’s soccer suffered a 3-0 setback to 10th-ranked Tyler Junior College in Region XIV action Saturday in Tyler, Texas.
The Buccaneers are now 7-2 overall and 1-1 in region matches.
Blinn entered Saturday’s tilt less than 20 hours removed from a region home win over Northeast Texas Community College, and McBride said the quick turnaround may have hindered his players down the stretch against Tyler.
“We went toe-to-toe with a top-10 team on their pitch for 70 minutes, but we were outplayed for the final 20,” McBride said. “I think Friday evening’s game certainly caught up with us, however, this game against Tyler was a great learning experience for the players and the coaches alike. We will be better from this experience.”
Blinn had seven shots on goal and managed 12 total shots for the match. Tyler had 26 total shots and nine on goal.
Buccaneer freshmen goalkeepers Noah LeMaster and Joshua ffrench-Adam each played one half in goal and finished with three saves apiece.
Blinn’s season continues its season with a road trip to region adversary Trinity Community College at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 15, in Athens, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
