Blinn College women’s soccer players Mia Anguiano (Fort Worth) and Keana Flores (Houston) recently signed letters of intent to continue their academic and playing careers with four-year programs.
Anguiano, a freshman defender, signed with Briar Cliff University. Flores, a sophomore midfielder, signed with Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
“Keana and Mia embodied the hard work and dedication we look for from players in our program, and they did it with a smile on their face,” head coach Michael McBride said. “They were a joy to coach. Their positivity was infectious and helped create a really good environment for our team.”
Anguiano came to Blinn from Birdville High School and played two games for the Buccaneers as a freshman. In two years at Blinn, Flores played 22 games and started 14.
“Both Keana and Mia are wonderful examples of the student-athletes we look for at Blinn,” assistant coach Alexandria Jackson said. “They both held excellent grade point averages and contributed to the team’s success on the field. They always wanted to improve as players, were willing to go the extra mile for their teammates, and have great personalities that will be missed.”
Blinn finished the season with a 6-3 overall record and 4-2 conference record. The Buccaneers made program history by clinching a spot in the playoffs for the first time. Blinn defeated Northeast Texas Community College, 2-0, in the Region XIV quarterfinals before its season concluded in the semifinals.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
