The Blinn College women’s volleyball team is entering conference play on a win streak.

The Buccaneers swept host Clarendon College, 25-9, 25-18, 25-12, Saturday morning at the Clarendon College Bulldog Bash. Blinn’s next game at 6 p.m. Tuesday will be a road contest against conference foe Navarro College.

The Bucs are now 5-1 on the season and have won four straight matches.

Blinn had an outstanding offensive game against Clarendon, hitting at a .480 clip.

Chard’e Van Zandt had 14 kills (.650 hitting percentage), with Jayde Shelton adding 11 (.526 hitting percentage) and Reagan Casey eight (.466 hitting percentage).

“I thought the girls played really well,” coach Terry Gamble said. “We hit .480 as a team, so I was really happy with our offense. If we keep working hard and improving, we have a chance to be pretty good.”

Blinn finished last season with a 17-3 mark and a fifth-place finish in the national tournament.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com
