The Buccaneers solidified their hold on first place in the Region 14 Conference standings by downing the 20th-ranked Bulldogs 25-19, 25-16, 25-23. Blinn improved to 8-0 in league play while Navarro dropped to 4-2 in the conference race.
The win gives Blinn a 26-match winning streak and a 27-1 record for the season.
“We played a really good team,” head coach Terry Gamble said, “so it’s always good to win those types of matches.”
Guilia Hortelan led Blinn with nine kills. Jayde Shelton, who leads NJCAA Division I volleyball in total kills, added eight and Ashley Taylor six kills in 11 attempts. Lina Ellila had 22 assists to pace the Bucs, with Emily Smajstria getting seven digs.
Blinn hosts Tyler Junior College Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Kruse Center. Tyler, ranked 12th in this week’s NJCAA Division I volleyball poll, is 5-3 in the conference standings and 14-6 on the season. The Apaches beat Wharton County Community College 3-0 on Thursday.
