The Blinn College Foundation has received a $5,000 gift from the Czech Educational Foundation of Texas (CEFT) to fund scholarships for students studying Czech at Blinn College. This contribution allows students enrolled in Blinn’s for-credit Czech language courses to receive scholarships covering their full tuition and fees, with only the textbook required as an out-of-pocket expense.
Blinn College offers Czech language instruction at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels. These courses are available to high school students (dual credit), university students, and those pursuing continuing education. For the spring 2025 semester, Blinn will offer two live online Czech courses: Beginning Czech II (CZEC 1472) and Intermediate Czech II (CZEC 2372), running from January 13 to May 8, 2025. High school students interested in dual credit options should contact their school counselor or reach out to Shannon Williford at [email protected] for enrollment information.
Additionally, Blinn will offer a non-credit course, Conversational Czech Advanced, designed for community members wanting to improve their spoken Czech. This course will run from February 4 to April 8, 2025. For details and registration, students may contact Loraine Orellana, Coordinator of Distance and Community Education, at 979-743-5237 or [email protected].
For general information on Blinn College’s Czech language programs, students can contact Dr. Becky Garlick, Executive Dean of the Schulenburg Campus, at 979-743-5222 or [email protected], or visit blinn.edu/czech.
