The Blinn College esports team dropped a Call of Duty match to Keyano College on Wednesday.
In their season and National Association of College Esports (NACE) opener, the Buccaneers were defeated 3-0 in a best-of-five match.
“I am already beyond excited for this roster,” said Blinn assistant esports coach Ryan Lucich, who manages the Call of Duty team. “Keyano has had a well-established team for a while and we kept the individual games very close. I know the ceiling is high with this new roster and I look forward to seeing how far we go.”
Competing for Blinn on Wednesday were returning competitors David Rodriguez and Landon Campos, along with first-year players Michael Allen and Logan Rivera.
“All four players are eager and hungry to improve, and we will look to bounce back in our next match,” added Lucich.
Blinn Call of Duty takes on Guilford Technical College in an NJCAA Esports tilt at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Buccaneer esports Super Smash Bros will see its season begin with a NACE bout against Texas A&M University-San Antonio at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7.
