Texas A&M AgriLife, in partnership with the Bellville Methodist Church, invited Austin County residents to attend The Reachwell Event. Held on Saturday, November 16, the Bellville Methodist Church hosted the Bellville Health Expo, which drew 33 participants eager to learn about maintaining their health and accessing local medical resources. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees engaged with healthcare providers and organizations in an event centered on education and community connection. Topics included diabetes management, high blood pressure, immunizations, heart health, and services offered by Christ Clinic, a nonprofit dedicated to serving uninsured and underinsured individuals.
Representatives from Memorial Hermann, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, and Christ Clinic were present to provide guidance. Memorial Hermann staff, including registered nurses and a health educator, offered blood pressure checks and shared information on managing chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension provided educational materials on immunizations, while Christ Clinic outlined its mission and plans to expand outreach in Austin County.
The event’s intimate size allowed attendees to visit every table, engage in meaningful conversations with representatives, and receive personalized guidance. Many participants took advantage of free health screenings and left with actionable knowledge to support their well-being. Plans are already underway for the next Bellville Community Health Expo, slated for spring or summer next year. Organizers aim to retain the event’s welcoming, small-scale atmosphere while introducing new features, such as vision screenings, and continuing with the successful exhibitors from this event. The Bellville Health Expo highlighted the strength of collaboration and community, providing valuable resources and information to help residents lead healthier lives.
