BRENHAM, Texas – Blinn College baseball started strong and raced out to a seven-run lead but South Suburban College was able to charge back in the later innings to steal away a 10-8 victory Wednesday evening at Leroy Dreyer Field.
With the loss, Blinn’s overall record falls to 12-11. The Buccaneers stay at 5-4 in Region XIV play with a series opener upcoming at San Jacinto College-North on Thursday, March 16 at 4 p.m.

Jay Anderson had a solid day at the plate in going 4-for-4 with a double and three singles while driving in a run. Colton Parrish and Tyler Fowler each had an RBI in the loss.
Blinn had everything working right in the first four innings to build up its lead. Parrish helped get everything started in the third inning by singling in a run to right for a 1-0 lead. Anthony Jones, who reached base on a walk, was able to steal home for the second run of the inning. De La Fuente capped the scoring with a two-run home run to left for a 4-0 lead.
The Buccaneers kept it rolling in the fourth when Johnny Rizer started out the inning with a single and then came in to score on a RBI single by Fowler to center for a 5-0 lead. Anderson followed by ripping a double to right for the sixth run and then Fowler scored later in the inning on a wild pitch for a 7-0 lead. South Suburban got back in the game with five runs in the top of the fifth to get within 7-5 of Blinn.
Murphy blasted a solo home run to left with one out in the fifth to give the Buccaneers an 8-5 lead. Unfortunately, that would be the final runs scored by Blinn as South Suburban scored two in the seventh and three in the ninth to come away with the 10-8 victory.
