On Monday, June 24th, at approximately 11:45 PM, the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) conducted a decisive operation in Columbus, Texas, resulting in the arrest of Eric Belmonte, 39, on a felony warrant for Manufacture and/or Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1. The operation, stemming from an ongoing investigation by the Westside HIDTA Narcotics Task Force, saw Belmonte attempting to flee but being apprehended without incident. A subsequent search of Belmonte’s residence on the 400 block of Jones Street led to the seizure of crack cocaine, powder cocaine, methamphetamine, MDMA, marijuana, fentanyl, and U.S. currency.

The coordinated effort included support from the Columbus Police Department and the Colorado County Sheriff’s Office. The Westside Narcotics Task Force, which spans four counties and includes investigators from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, and the DEA, spearheaded the investigation with assistance from the Austin County District Attorney’s Office. Belmonte was later booked into the Colorado County Jail, marking a significant victory in the region’s fight against narcotics trafficking.
