Just a little while ago, Judge Tim Lapham informed the county via social media that Austin County has finally reached Zero active cases of COVID. The welcome news comes as numbers across the state have been falling steadily. Higher population areas are still seeing cases but, no where near the levels between mid-December to mid-March. After Governor Abbott released his executive order prohibiting government entities from mandating masks many stores and shops followed suit and no longer require masks be worn when entering.
