Over the weekend of February 3rd and 4th, 2024, several vital departments including the New Ulm Volunteer Fire Department, Bellville Volunteer Fire Department, Cat Spring Volunteer Fire Department, Industry Volunteer Fire Department, and Shelby Volunteer Fire Department converged in Bellville for the Austin County Field Day, a comprehensive training exercise facilitated by TEEX.

The event, hosted in Bellville, served as a platform for intensive training in crucial areas aimed at enhancing child safety. Among the skills covered were Motor Carrier Transport, School Bus Extrication, and School Bus Rescues, which included aspects of Treatment, Triage, and Transport protocols.

Austin County EMS played a pivotal role in the medical aspects of the training, providing valuable assistance and demonstrating commendable expertise throughout the exercises. The collaboration with Bellville Police Department and the Bellville School Administration underscored the community-wide commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of children in Austin County.

The event not only facilitated skill-building but also fostered collaboration and coordination among different agencies, essential elements in ensuring a swift and effective response during emergencies.

The Austin County Field Day shows the commitment of local first responders and emergency services to continually enhance their capabilities in service to the community. By coming together for training exercises of this nature, these departments reaffirm their dedication to the safety and well-being of all residents, particularly the children.
