Due to coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic concerns, the Austin County Fair Board of Directors and Staff are saddened to announce the cancellation of the 2020 Austin County Fair. This is our first cancellation since World War II. The Austin County Fair was scheduled for October 2nd through 11th.
After careful consideration for the health and safety of our community and fair goers, the difficult decision was reached after months of discussions and planning with board members, staff, and committeemen, as well as the need to preserve the financial viability of the Austin County Fair Association to present future fairs.
We will be honoring our mission “to provide the encouragement of Agriculture, Home Economics and Horticulture” by holding a Livestock Show and Youth Auction Sale, as well as the Queens, Floral Design, Agricultural Mechanics, Bucket Calf, Hay Judging, Livestock Judging, Tractor Tech, and Champion Drive contests.
As previously stated, tickets, Passports to Fun, and ads purchased for the 2020 Fair will be honored at next year’s fair or can be returned at a designated time and date to be announced in the future for a full refund. Corporate sponsorships will be used to sustain the Fair through this difficult year.
We thank everyone for their continued support during this difficult time. We look forward to a wonderful 2021 Fair, October 8th through 17th!
Thank you,
– Robert Winkelmann, Austin County Fair President
