Bellville and Brazos ISD families are doing a great job accumulating miles across Texas.  At the end of the 4th week, several classes and groups are pressing closer to the finish line in their quest to complete Walk Across Texas.  BISD students and their families have walked 45,766 miles at the close of their 4th week.  Keep on pushing towards the goal! 

Currently, O’Bryant Primary has 14,577 miles.  West End Elementary has 14,115 miles and O’Bryant Intermediate is cruising right along with 10,855 miles. On the south end of the county, Brazos is sitting pretty with 6,219 miles.

Kindergarten results are:

  • Mrs. Davis – 621 miles
  • Mrs. Bridges – 365 miles
  • Mrs. Hardy – 363 miles

First grade results are:

  • Mrs. Burnett – 1192 miles
  • Mrs. Benard – 530 miles
  • Mrs. Leushner – 487 miles

Second grade results are: 

  • Mrs. Peschel – 786 miles
  • Mrs Shackelford – 495 miles
  • Mrs.Dorenback –395 miles.

Third grade results are:

  • Mrs.Springer – 1,107 miles
  • Mrs. Hackemack – 1,027 miles
  • Mrs. Lewis   – 650 miles. 

Fourth grade results are:

  • Mrs. Biehunko – 2,428 miles
  • Mrs. Adams – 1,520 miles
  • Mrs. Siptak – 738 miles

Fifth grade results are:

  • Mrs. Greenville – 1,400 miles
  • Mrs. Paget – 642 miles
  • Mrs. Dry – 582 miles.  

On the school front in West End, the results are:

  • Mrs. Blezinger (5th grade) – 2,351
  • Mrs. Orduna (2nd grade) – 1,992 miles
  • Mrs. Wade (3rd grade) – 1,805 miles.

At Brazos ISD, School of Walk has 1,721miles, Walking with Brazos – 1,122 and FreezRBurrN – 1,056 miles! Keep up the hard work everyone!

Walk Across Texas is an 8 week walking program promoted by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M School for Rural Public Health.  Locally, the fun and fitness program is being sponsored by the Family and Consumer Sciences Advisory Board of the Austin County Extension Service.  Educational programs of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, sex, disability, religion, age or national origin. Teams are encouraged to have fun and enjoy the healthy benefits of walking. Walk Across Texas is designed primarily to help enhance a healthy lifestyle ‑ the competition is primarily for fun!  Look for the next team report coming soon!  Remember to be active over spring break.  Those miles count big!
