The Austin County 4-H program is continuing its effort to highlight the young leaders helping shape the organizationโ€™s future. This monthโ€™s spotlight shines on Presley Jacob, a dedicated member of the Stars and Stripes 4-H Club and a current Austin County 4-H County Council officer.

Presley currently serves as the County Council Parliamentarian and is in her second year of 4-H. Before joining the program, she was active in Junior FFA, where her interest in agriculture and livestock first began to grow.

One of Presley’s favorite parts of 4-H is raising and showing livestock. She spends time each day feeding, grooming, and training her animals, a responsibility that has helped teach dedication and commitment. The effort has also paid off in the show ring, where she has experienced success exhibiting some of her own animals.

Leadership plays an important role in her 4-H experience. She says she is especially proud of being an active member of the Stars and Stripes 4-H Club and serving as part of the clubโ€™s officer team. Through her role on the County Council, she hopes to continue growing as a leader while also representing and advocating for the livestock industry.

Looking ahead, Presley plans to attend Texas A&M University and pursue a career as a veterinarian working with large animals.

One of her favorite 4-H memories is attending a leadership camp at Tarleton State University, where she gained valuable experience developing her public speaking skills and learning more about the agriculture industry.

Community service has also been an important part of Presley’s time in 4-H. One project she especially enjoyed was helping work the Coke stand at the Austin County Fair alongside friends.

Through 4-H, Presley has developed stronger public speaking skills by giving presentations and learning how to organize her thoughts in front of an audience. Those experiences have helped build confidence she believes will benefit her in job interviews, group projects, and future leadership opportunities.

Outside of 4-H, she enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors with her animals. Presley also operates her own small business raising and selling registered Miniature Australian Shepherds.

Being involved in 4-H in Austin County is about more than projects and competitions. For Presley Jacob, it is an opportunity to meet new people who share similar interests, learn from their experiences, and work together to make a positive impact in the community.

Austin County 4-H plans to continue highlighting youth leaders throughout the year as part of its effort to showcase the dedication, leadership, and community spirit of local 4-H members.
