The Austin County 4-H program is continuing its County Council Officer Spotlight series by recognizing the young leaders who help guide and strengthen the organization throughout the year. This month’s spotlight shines on Levi Malinowski, a dedicated 4-H member whose leadership, service, and passion for agriculture have made a lasting impact on the local program.
Levi is a member of Welcome 4-H and currently serves as the Austin County 4-H Council’s 3rd Vice President. A 10-year veteran of the 4-H program, he has developed a strong interest in livestock judging, which he cites as his favorite 4-H activity.
Among his many accomplishments, Levi says he is most proud of founding and serving as chairman of the Mindy Moses Fun Run, demonstrating his commitment to leadership and community involvement. As a County Council officer, one of his primary goals this year is to increase attendance and participation at council meetings.
Looking toward the future, Levi hopes to one day own and operate his own high-fenced game ranch. His experiences in 4-H have helped prepare him for that goal by teaching valuable life skills, particularly public speaking, which he believes will benefit him well beyond his youth years.
One of Levi’s favorite memories from his time in 4-H was winning the National 4-H Livestock Quiz Bowl Contest, an achievement that highlights both his knowledge and dedication to agricultural education. He also fondly remembers participating in the Blessing Box project, one of the community service efforts he enjoyed most.
Outside of 4-H activities, Levi enjoys searching through pennies and collecting wheat-back pennies, a hobby that reflects his appreciation for history and hidden treasures.
When asked why serving as a 4-H leader is important to him, Levi offered a simple but meaningful response: “Austin County is my home and I’m proud to lead it.” His dedication to his community and fellow 4-H members exemplifies the leadership values that Austin County 4-H seeks to foster in its youth.
