Throughout the year, the Austin County 4-H program is spotlighting its dedicated County Council officers to celebrate their leadership and service. The series highlights each officer’s 4-H journey, goals, and personal interests while helping the community get to know the young leaders shaping the future of Austin County 4-H. This month, we’re introducing Grace Lischka.
Grace, a member of the Stars & Stripes 4-H Club, is serving as this year’s Austin County 4-H Council Treasurer. A dedicated member for the past 10 years, she has developed a passion for leadership, service, and helping others through her involvement in 4-H.
One of Grace’s favorite parts of 4-H has been participating in public speaking and Educational Presentations, experiences that have strengthened her confidence and communication skills. Among her proudest accomplishments is serving on the County Council alongside her friends, an experience she says has been both rewarding and memorable.
As County Council Treasurer, Grace hopes to encourage new members to discover everything 4-H has to offer. Looking ahead, she plans to pursue a career as an Occupational Therapist, where she can continue making a positive difference in the lives of others.
One of Grace’s favorite 4-H memories was competing at the State 4-H Roundup as a freshman. She has also enjoyed coordinating her club’s annual December toy drive benefiting CASA 4 Kids, demonstrating her commitment to serving the community.
Grace credits 4-H with helping her develop valuable public speaking skills that she uses in many aspects of her life and expects to carry into her future career. Outside of 4-H, she is a cheerleader and was a member of Bellville High School’s first UIL Spirit Squad.
When asked why serving as a 4-H leader matters to her, Grace shared that 4-H has given her valuable life skills and lasting friendships. She hopes other young people in Austin County will have the same opportunity to grow, learn, and connect through the organization that has had such a positive impact on her life.
