On Thursday, August 10, 2023, around 11:00 AM, the Austin County Regional Special Response Team (SRT) conducted an arrest warrant operation at a residence located in the 1900 block of Bowie Street in Columbus, Texas. The operation was a direct outcome of an ongoing narcotics investigation carried out by the Westside Narcotics Task Force, specifically the High-Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) division.

The focal point of the operation was the apprehension of a suspect identified as Ray Coleman, aged 43. Mr. Coleman was arrested pursuant to an active warrant issued for the charge of Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance. This arrest signifies a culmination of the efforts undertaken by the Westside Narcotics Task Force, an inter-agency collective consisting of investigators from various law enforcement entities. The participating agencies encompass the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville PD, Sealy PD, Hempstead PD, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

In addition to the primary agencies, the Colorado County Attorney’s Office played a crucial supportive role throughout the course of the investigation. Their assistance contributed to the overall success of the operation.

The execution of the arrest warrant was carried out with the collaboration of multiple law enforcement units. The Columbus Police Department, Colorado County Sheriff’s Office, Washington County Tactical Medics, and the Texas Department of Public Safety lent their support to ensure the operation’s smooth execution and mitigate potential risks.

The action taken by the Austin County Regional Special Response Team underscores the coordinated efforts of the Westside Narcotics Task Force in addressing drug-related issues within the region.
