The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and the Texas A&M Department of Rangeland, Wildlife and Fisheries Management are hosting a “Common Aquatic Vegetation Management Mistakes” webinar on Sept. 19.

The webinar will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. and registration will cost $35. To register, visit https://tx.ag/CommonAquaticVegMistakes.

One general continuing education unit will be offered by the Texas Department of Agriculture.

The hour-long webinar will discuss the most common mistakes made when managing aquatic vegetation in ponds and fisheries.

Most common mistakes and solutions covered

The featured speaker is Brittany Chesser, AgriLife Extension aquatic vegetation management program specialist and lead diagnostic scientist at AgriLife Extension’s Aquatic Diagnostics Library.

Chesser will present the most common mistakes pond managers can make when using chemical or other treatments to management algae or problem aquatic plants, such as undertreating, overtreating and misidentifying vegetation that could lead to ineffective treatments.

The webinar will then outline the best practices in managing vegetation for pond owners to take home to improve their ponds.

The program will end with a question-and-answer session.
