The Bellville Volunteer Fire Department’s “Firemen’s Celebration” fundraiser was held last night, August 19, 2022, at the Austin County Fairgrounds. The celebration began at 5pm with the live auction starting at 7pm. Meal tickets for the event were $15 and raffle tickets were $10. The meal was a chicken and sausage dinner which was prepared entirely by volunteers who prepared a total of 1800 meals for the event.
This annual event is held in order to help sustain the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department. The department is 100% volunteer and is a designated 501c3, non-profit organization. The money for the event helps in purchasing equipment for emergency responses, not just in Bellville, but all over Austin County. The department has a coverage area of 217 square miles of northern Austin County, as well as responding to mutual aid calls for surrounding agencies and counties.
Besides the volunteers that gave of their time to put on the event there were lots of donations for the auctions and the raffle. Raffle donations were provided by: J&S Water/Sonny Janczak/B&M Repair, J&G Salves, Woodman Life – Bellville, Mecano-Tech, B.V.F.D., Rocking B Supply, Huebner Concrete, J&S Water Wells, FNB of Bellville, Austin County State Bank, H.R. Ueckert Co., Willmark Homes, Honeycutt A/C, Huebner Concrete, W.T. Byler, Cleide Aitken, A.W. Flentge Service, Mark Swonke/Killen Families, C&C Schmitt Family, Bolten’s Dozer Service, Jarvis Tire Pros, Lube Station – Bellville, J&W Parts – NAPA, Dusty Kendrick Family, Vincik’s Building Supply, Shaun Grell Family, Brookshire Bros., Bellville Rent All, and Galileo’s Mexican Grill.
The donations included a Toro Mower, numerous Visa Gift Cards as well as gift cards for the various donating businesses’ services.
