The Sealy City Council elected not to move forward on the frontage road project Tuesday night at the Sealy City Council meeting.  Several people signed up to voice their concerns over the project.  Concern over the safety of the students near the High School and walking on the roadway was the predominant theme for the majority of the citizen’s responses.  The council went into executive session on two separate occasions to confer with legal counsel concerning the project.  When they returned the second time each council person gave a short speech as to how they were leaning concerning the project.  One concern that was voiced by three councilmembers over the project was a letter that threatened legal action against the city from the project’s developer.   After each council person was through speaking, Wyn McCready made a motion to further discussions with the developer.  This was seconded by Janice Whitehead but, failed to garner the necessary votes to pass.  Janice Whitehead then made a motion to move forward with authorizing payment to the Texas Department of Transportation which was seconded by Wyn McCready but, it too failed to receive the necessary votes to pass.  The video below contains the entire events pertaining to the frontage road project’s discussion at last nights city council meeting.
