WACO, Texas- Blinn College women’s basketball relied on a strong offense with 36 points coming from behind the three-point line to hold down McLennan Community College for a 78-62 road win on Monday night.

The Buccaneers hit 12 three-pointers in their fifth win of the season to improve their overall record to 5-2.

“It was a great road win and I am very proud of these young ladies,” said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. “McLennan got us on our home court, so it was nice to split the series this year and get a win on their home court.”

Four Buccaneers reached double digits as Rayanna Carter led the way with 15 points. Aaliyah Holmes followed with 14 points, Alanna Spencer with 12, and Jade Rochelle with 11. Ke’Asia Williams and Kayla Konarik combined for 17 points in the victory.

McLennan started strong in the opening quarter to take a 16-13 lead that Blinn would quickly regain by the end of the half. The Buccaneers picked up the pace in the second quarter to score 21 points, while holding McLennan to 13 for Blinn to take a 34-29 lead at the half.

Both teams played a tight third quarter as the Buccaneers lead diminished by two points to 51-48. The offense picked up in the final quarter as Blinn outscored McLennan 27-14 to take the win.

The Buccaneers are looking for their first Region XIV conference win against Kilgore College on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
