Marcus Pena, Austin County’s current tax assessor collector, released data on the costs associated with holding county elections. “Our taxpayers have a right to know how tax dollars are spent to run elections” he stated in his email with the information. Just to hold the special elections, whether you voted or not, was almost fifty cents for each registered voter in Austin County.
