The excitement ran high for the Faith Academy Lady Knights volleyball team last weekend at Castle Hills in San Antonio in their run for the TAPPS 1A state championship. On Friday, 10/31, they advanced to the regional round by sweeping Houston Family Christian in three games for the area title. The scores were 25-21, 25-17, and 25-15.
Brianna Kasprowicz (Bellville) had two kills and Julia Catlett (Alleyton), Olivia Catlett (Alleyton), Megan Flores (Sealy) and Rachel Sisson (Bellville) each added one kill. From the service line, Sisson had two aces. Kasprowicz and Newcomb each had one ace and Kasprowicz also had two blocks. The Lady Knights returned to the court on November 1 to battle Mission Juan Diego. They lost the first game in a heartbreaker, 27-25, lost the second in a landslide 25-9, won the third in tight match 20-25, and dominated the fourth game with a 9-25 win. The final game was extremely close and ended with a Lady Knight loss, 15-12. Kasprowicz and Sisson led the team with four kills each. J. Catlett, O. Catlett, and Flores each had one kill. J. Catlett, Flores, Kasprowicz, and Sisson each served one ace. O. Catlett and Kasprowicz had one block each, and Alex Newcomb (Hempstead) had a block assist.
Congratulations to senior Rachel Sisson on being named FA’s Athlete of the Week for her spectacular play, positive attitude, and exemplary leadership.
