The Bluebonnet Master Gardeners Association, in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, is bringing back its popular Kids’ Kamp program for 2026, giving children the opportunity to explore gardening, nature, and science through hands-on learning experiences across four counties.

Now entering its ninth year, Kids’ Kamp is designed to make learning fun while encouraging an interest in gardening, environmental awareness, and community involvement. This year’s activities will focus on soil and compost, water science, and creating new plants through propagation techniques.

Campers will have the opportunity to:

  • Explore soil and discover the bugs and organisms that live in it
  • Learn about the power of water through a Stream Flow Trailer demonstration
  • Graft, cut, and divide plants to create new plants
  • Make ornaments, chia people, and other creative projects to take home

The camp is open to children ages 10-13, and organizers say there are no residency restrictions, meaning families may register for any location regardless of where they live. Space is limited.

Kids’ Kamp 2026 locations and dates include:

  • Washington County: June 2-4 at the Washington County Expo Center in Brenham
  • Fayette County: June 10-12 at the Fayette County AgriLife Building in La Grange
  • Colorado County: June 16-18 at the Weimar Civic Center
  • Austin County: June 23-25 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church Annex in Bellville

Camp sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $25 per child plus processing fees, and registration is due by May 26, 2026.

The program is staffed by volunteer Bluebonnet Master Gardeners and interns. Registration and additional information are available online through the Bluebonnet Master Gardeners website.
