A traffic stop in Wallis on June 24, 2026, resulted in multiple felony drug charges after an officer allegedly discovered marijuana, THC products and drug paraphernalia inside a vehicle.
According to the Wallis Police Department, Officer Conejo conducted a traffic stop in the 6300 block of Commerce Street after observing a vehicle traveling 60 mph in a posted 35 mph zone.
During the stop, Officer Conejo reportedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Based on probable cause, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Police said the search resulted in the discovery of several bags and a shoebox containing a large quantity of THC products, THC wax, marijuana, glass pipes and other drug paraphernalia.
The driver, identified as Lane Arnold of Plano, Texas, was arrested and booked into the Austin County Jail. He is charged with:
- Felony Delivery of Marijuana
- Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (THC)
- Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance (THC Wax)
Under Texas law, Delivery of Marijuana can range from a state jail felony to a first-degree felony depending on the amount involved, with potential penalties ranging from 180 days to two years in a state jail facility for lower-level offenses to five to 99 years or life in prison for the most serious offenses. Possession of concentrated THC products, including THC wax, is prosecuted as possession of a controlled substance and can also range from a state jail felony to a first-degree felony, depending on the quantity allegedly possessed. Convictions may also carry fines of up to $10,000.
The Wallis Police Department praised Officer Conejo for his work during the traffic stop and subsequent investigation.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Arnold are allegations, and he is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
