The United States passed another milestone today, but not in a good way. According to usdebtclock.org, our national debt surpassed 18 Trillion Dollars and is accelerating.
This total makes us one of the most in debt nations in the world (it’s between us and Japan, depending on how you calculate it). Unfortunately for Uncle Sam, we’ve only reached the tip of the iceberg as the Baby Boomer Generation is just coming online and expecting to receive the benefits that they are entitled to after paying into the system all these years. It’s going to be a long road ahead for the nation as more benefits are paid out than are received and Washington’s insatiable appetite for spending continues unabated. Below is a very short animation explaining in very simple terms the pickle that we are in as a nation.
