On the morning of Saturday, May 31, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m., officers with the Sealy Police Department responded to the 900 block of Meyer Street following a report of a vehicle burglary. During the initial investigation, officers discovered that six different vehicles in the area had been burglarized.
By Monday morning, June 2, Sealy PD’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) had identified a suspect who was attempting to sell items believed to be stolen during the burglaries. Posing as potential buyers, undercover investigators arranged a meeting with the suspect. When the suspect arrived to make the transaction, he was taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspect’s vehicle revealed additional stolen property from the burglaries, along with illegal narcotics.
Cedric Cortez Brown, 29, of Houston, Texas, was arrested and charged with:
-
Theft of Property ($2,500–$30,000), State Jail Felony
-
Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, State Jail Felony
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming.
The Sealy Police Department extends its gratitude to the Austin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit (SIU), Austin County SRT, Westside Narcotics Task Force (WNTF), and the Waller County Sheriff’s Office for their collaboration and support during this case.
