The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County will offer several Private Applicator Training classes in 2025 at the Austin County Extension Office, located at 800 E Wendt St, Bellville. These classes are for individuals who need a license to use state-limited or state-restricted pesticides, such as Grazon P+D, 2, 4-D, and Weedmaster.
Books and study materials for the course can be purchased in advance at the Extension Office for $50. A registration fee of $10 will cover the training and additional study materials. Payments should be made by check or cash (exact change). The training sessions will run from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on the following dates:
• Friday, January 24, 2025
• Friday, May 9, 2025
• Friday, August 8, 2025
• Friday, November 14, 2025
The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has contracted with PSI Services, a company that provides testing and certification services, to administer the licensing exam for agricultural pesticide applicators. Applicants will coordinate testing with PSI at one of their 22 locations across Texas. Additional information on the testing process, locations, and costs will be provided during the training.
To earn the Private Applicator License, applicants must complete the training, pass the exam with a score of 70 or higher, and be eligible to purchase state-limited use and restricted use pesticides for agricultural use.
