Backyard poultry owners or those interested in owning poultry are invited to attend theĀ Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory, TVMDL, Backyard Poultry Health Seminar on Sept. 30 in Bryan-College Station.
The event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TVMDL laboratory, 483 Agronomy Road, College Station. Registration is $20 per participant and is limited. Registration is available online only atĀ https://tx.ag/TVMDLBackyardPoultryHealthSeminar.
Participants must be over 10 years old to attend, and registration is required for every participant in the party. Parking in Lot 77 in front of the lab will be free for the event.
āThereās been an increase of people interested in owning birds,ā said Sydney Rosario, TVMDL poultry program administrator, Bryan-College Station. āWe at TVMDL know there is a want and need for more information from these new backyard flock owners, as well as some more experienced owners. We wanted to meet that demand for more education, so we are excited to offer our first poultry seminar.ā
Rosario said some of the hot topics forĀ new backyard flock ownersĀ are animal husbandry basics, diseases that affect backyard flocks, biosecurity and nutrition.
