BRENHAM, Texas – Blinn College men’s basketball was nearly able to recover from a rough first half but the comeback attempt fell just short as Lee College held on for a 95-87 victory Saturday evening inside the P.E. Building.

With the loss, Blinn finishes the regular season with a 17-13 record and 7-12 in Region XIV play.

Juwan Green was part of the comeback in the second half, scoring 15 of his team high 21 points in the latter half. LaKendric Hyson finished with 15 points, James Harrison chipped in 13 while Antione Lister and Curtlon Wesley each scored 12 points in the loss.

Both teams started out fairly equal as Blinn capped a 5-0 run with a free throw from Tyler Barlow to take a 15-14 lead with 14:17 left in the first half. The Buccaneers kept it close until the 3:05 mark when Lee shot out to a 10-3 run to take a 40-30 advantage.

Harrison was able to find space in the paint and score 10 points while Hyson chipped in nine points but Lee led 51-38 at the break.

Blinn came out with better energy in the second half behind the efforts of Green and Wesley. Green scored 15 in the second half while Wesley scored all 12 of his points in the second half.

The Buccaneers were able to get within single digits of Lee after a 3-point play by Green cut the Lee lead down to 83-74 with 3:23 left. Blinn cut the Lee lead to four on two different occasions down the stretch but Lee was able to hold for the eight-point victory.

Blinn will play in the Region XIV Tournament this coming week with an opponent to be named later.
