Bellville High School was the host site for an active shooter/mass casualty drill.  First responders from the Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Sealy ISD Police Department, Bellville Police Department, Austin County Special Response Team, Austin County EMS , the Bellville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Bellville Medical Center ER all received hands on practical training. In a study of 160 active shooter incidents in the United States between 2000 and 2013, it was found that incidents in educational facilities account for some of the higher casualty counts and 1 IN 4 workplace mass shootings since 2006 were carried out in a government building.  With statistics like that, the need for this type of training is invaluable; let’s pray that this training is never needed.  Below are pictures that the Bellville Police Department posted to their Facebook Page:
