The Faith Academy Knights traveled to Alvin to battle the Living Stones Lions Friday October 30, 2015 for the Division III District 4 championship.ย The Knights defeated the Lions 64 โ 12.
The Knights scored first when Senior Troy Herring (Bellville) scored on a 24 yard touchdown run.ย Herring finds Tyler Fontenot (Bellville) for the PAT.ย The Knights next score came with a 21 yard pass from Cameron Crawford (Bellville) pass to Fontenot. The PAT was successful when Herring found Henry Vornkahl (Bellville) in the end zone.ย ย On the Knights next possession, Herring scores on an 18 yard run.ย Herringโs PAT kick was good.ย The Knights last score in the first quarter came on another Crawford pass to Herring for 40 yards. The PAT was completed to Fontenot.ย The Knights led 29-13 at the end of the first quarter.ย
The Knights score another touchdown on a Herring 2 yard run.ย Herring completes the PAT pass to Vornkahl.ย Later, Herring finds a wide open Fontenot for a 44 yard touchdown pass.ย The PAT failed.ย Herring scores again on a 33 yard run.ย Herring completes the PAT pass to Fontenot.ย At the half, the Knights led 49-19.
The second half got underway with a Jake Ewing (Hempstead) 35 yard run.ย Crawford completes the PAT to Fontenot.ย Vornkahl records safety on Lions quarterback.ย ย Crawfordโs 10 yard Herring pass with 6:07 left in the third ends the game with the Mercy Rule.
The Knights defense played great all night.ย They were led by Herring with 8 tackles and 1 fumble recovery.ย Also helping were Brody Schiller (Sealy) with 5 tackles and 1 fumble recovery and Vornkahl with 5 tackles and a safety.ย
The Knights next game will be the Regional Finals on Friday, November 20, 2015 with the opponent and site TBD.ย
