It can be difficult to get Blinn College sophomore setter Jordyn Keamo out of the gym. It’s that constant work ethic that helped her earn first-team NJCAA and AVCA All-America honors for 2015.
After being named a second-team NJCAA All-American during her freshman season, Keamo continued to work hard to reach even greater heights.
“Jordyn has spent more hours in the gym than any other junior college player that I have yet to come across and probably more than any other four-year player,” said coach Kalie Mader. “She is not just a good setter, she is a fantastic volleyball player.”
After winning a national title in 2014, Keamo helped the Buccaneers earn seventh place at this year’s NJCAA Division I National Tournament. Keamo was named to the NJCAA all-tournament team after dishing out 129 assists and 31 digs in four matches.
“When I first got here I didn’t know all of these accolades existed,” Keamo said. “This year I was aiming for all of them.”
Keamo will be a mainstay in the Blinn College record books. She ranks second all-time with 2,514 assists and 153 service aces.
Keamo was also named first team all-region and all-conference with 1,499 assists, 89 service aces and 312 digs. Sophomores Abolanle Onipede and Eboni Mitchell joined her as first-team all-region and all-conference selections. Freshman Danusia Borgeaud was named second-team all-conference while Dana Teets and Alexis Kingston earned honorable mention. Mader was named Region K coach of the year in her first season at Blinn.
Onipede led the team with 392 kills and a .391 hitting percentage, and Mitchell was second with 370 kills. Borgeaud led the team with 450 digs and earned 250 kills while Teets was second with 428 digs and Kingston earned 271 kills during the year.
Blinn finished the season with a 31-12 record, including an NJCAA Region XIV Conference Tournament championship.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 32 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
