DESCRIPTION: Learn to perform a variety of maintenance functions for the City of Eagle Lake Public Works Department; learn to operate and maintain department equipment and tools, and perform other duties as assigned. DUTIES: • Assist and perform mowing, removal of weeds, trim trees and hedges. • Learn and assist in the repair and maintenance of public water and sewer collection systems. • Learn and assist to resurface city streets, lay asphalt and concrete, backfill trenches. • Learn to operate equipment including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, rollers, dump trucks, mowers, tractor/shredder and sewer jet truck. • Learn and assist in the repairs of storm drains, valve boxes, manholes, etc. • Work outdoors and in inclement weather (i.e., heat, rain, cold, etc.) • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs. • Available for 24-hour call out and emergencies. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Have a valid Class “C” Texas Operators License with the ability to obtain a minimum Class “B” Commercial Driver’s License within four (4) months of hire date. • Ability to obtain TCEQ approved Class “D” water and wastewater license within one (1) year of hire date.
