The Martial Arts Instructor is the first and most important contact that a prospective client has with a school. The ideal candidate will help us achieve our goals by partnering with the Owners and the team to develop and provide a premium experience for our students and the community.
Responsibilities:
Marketing:
- Represent PMA at recruitment, marketing and community events
- Distribute marketing materials
- Assist in selling equipment packages of Basic, Black Belt, Premier Training and any other programs
- Assist in special event scheduling, coordination, and execution (for example: Parent’s Night Out and White Belt Buddy Bash)
Studio Management and Administration:
- Follow and complete daily tasks and statistics tracking in the studios’ system software
- Build and maintain long lasting, positive relationships with the students and parents including responses to their feedback on improvements to the school or classes
- Recruit and retain new students/members
- Determine student belt rankings, and provide tracking, reporting, stripe and belt tests, group and private introductory evaluations, and graduations
- Deliver specialized PMA programs inclusive of Drills for Skills, Life lesson BBE Mat Chats, Black Belt Excellence Life Lesson and Demo Team
- Assist in general office management and maintenance (class schedules, school maintenance – scheduled and breakdown, supplies)
- Complete comprehensive training in PMA skills and instruction (Certified Instructor Training, Leadership Program) if applicable as part of succession planning
- Ensure the studio is clean, safe and upholds the PMA brand and standards
Qualifications and Experience:
- HS Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree or Military Service preferred
- A minimum of 8 years experience in martial arts
- Minimum of 4 years of teaching/instructing in the Fitness/Martial Arts industry including in role of Head Instructor
- Clear criminal and driving record. Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Skills and other Requirements:
- Top-notch leadership skills and self-motivated
- Outstanding verbal communication skills with the capacity to command attention and is a skilled presenter, public speaker
- Respectful, supportive, and fair approach to teaching as required
- Computer skills and capacity to learn the software used to operate the studio
- Able to work flexible work hours: generally 23 to 40-hour weeks on 5 days through weekdays and Saturdays. Daily schedule for hours of work are to be determined.
- Have reliable transportation
- Ability to attend out of town an initial week-long and subsequent refresher training
- Interest and flexibility to deliver responsibilities in multiple locations in assigned area(s)
