Description
Brenham ISD is seeking a Custodian at Brenham Middle School to help keep school buildings and grounds clean, safe and functional. You’ll provide cleaning and custodial assistance to students, staff and visitors.
What you'll do
- Check and secure the building at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Clean school rooms, restrooms and common areas; sweep, mop, buff, strip and wax floors.
- Perform general maintenance and groundskeeping, replace light bulbs, remove debris and maintain equipment.
- Set up and break down chairs, tables and equipment for meetings and school events.
- Receive deliveries, help unload trucks, store supplies and distribute materials throughout the building.
What you'll bring
- Any combination of education and experience providing the knowledge and skills needed for successful performance qualifies.
- Typical education is a high school diploma or sufficient education to successfully perform the duties.
- Previous building cleaning and maintenance experience is desirable; a motor vehicle operator’s license or own transportation is required.
- Read, write and speak English fluently; follow oral and written instructions and perform basic arithmetic.
- Work outdoors in inclement weather and above ground using ladders and automatic lifts.
- Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate protective gear and comply with chemical hygiene requirements and MSDS sheets.
- Maintain cooperative relationships with students and staff; occasional travel between schools and the central office may be required.
