Description
Brenham ISD is seeking a Child Nutrition Specialist for its Child Nutrition Department. In this role, you’ll report to the Child Nutrition Manager and help maintain high standards of food quality, sanitation, and safety.
What you'll do
- Prepare quality food using planned menus and standardized recipes, and serve meals according to established schedules.
- Practice portion control, use leftovers properly, and store and handle food and supplies safely.
- Maintain clean, organized work areas, operate equipment safely, and correct or promptly report unsafe conditions.
- Handle and record cashier transactions accurately and maintain daily food preparation records.
- Work cooperatively with fellow staff members and complete annual continuing education requirements.
What you'll bring
- High school diploma or GED preferred; Texas Food Handler’s Certificate required.
- Ability to communicate with students, staff, parents, and the public; read instructions and recipes; and perform basic arithmetic.
- Working knowledge of food production procedures and ability to operate large and small kitchen equipment safely.
- Ability to stand and walk continually, push and pull, and lift 10–45 pounds.
- Ability to reach overhead, stoop, bend, twist, kneel, and squat most of the day.
- Ability to work around moving machinery, hot or cold temperatures, humidity, wet floors, equipment noise, and slippery surfaces.
Pay: $13.48 per hour (minimum)
