PARIS, Texas – Blinn College men’s basketball proved they could finish on the road as it turned a small halftime deficit into a 74-58 victory over Paris Junior College Dec. 6 in Paris, Texas.

Paris held a 29-28 lead at the break over Blinn but the Buccaneers did a much better job of limited the second chances for Paris. With the better effort blocking out, Blinn outscored Paris by 17 points to improve its conference record to 2-1 and overall record to 9-2.

Too Much Stuff“We came out in the second half and I thought our guys showed a lot of energy,” said Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher. “We were able to jump on them and build up our lead pretty quick.”

Morris Dunnigan was a big reason for the turnaround as he scored all 17 of his points in the final 20 minutes to lead the way. Ja’Cardo Hawkins had 16 points, Revey Norton had 10 points, Lionheart Leslie finished with nine points and Jalan McCloud had eight for the Buccaneers as did Vicktor Arnick.

“Morris (Dunnigan) really stepped up and played his best game of the year,” Schumacher said. “He attacked the basket, made some 3-pointers and made his free throws.”

Blinn was able to execute their game plan more in the second half at a top level and that helped create a solid second half to Blinn College.

“This is the best game that we have played this year,” Schumacher said. “We didn’t have a lull in the game and we just kept playing.”

Blinn will host its next conference game on Dec. 10 against Panola College at 7:30 p.m.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 30 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
