The Faith Academy Knights traveled to Georgetown to face Fredericksburg Heritage in the TAPPS Regional playoff game at Wagner Middle School. The Knights got off to a thrilling start with a 46-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Christian Pillow to junior Jackson Dunn on their first offensive play. However, Heritage’s disciplined and methodical offense, advancing steadily at five yards per play, proved too much for the Knights’ defense. Despite the challenges, the Knights showcased offensive highlights: Jackson Dunn added a 41-yard rushing touchdown, and senior Travis Woodley scored twice on the ground, with runs of 2 and 43 yards. Junior Josh Stark also contributed with 60 receiving yards, continuing his impressive season. However, Heritage’s defensive pressure disrupted the Knights’ passing game and stifled their rushing attack. On defense, the Knights made key plays throughout the game. They stopped Heritage on a critical fourth-down attempt early on, and senior Travis Woodley led with 12 tackles. Seniors Cash Eckermann and Dylan Callihan each added 8 tackles, with Callihan delivering the standout defensive play—a sack on the Heritage quarterback at the 3-yard line as time expired in the first half. Junior Gage Wilson also made an impact with 4 tackles and a forced fumble. However, offensive miscues and missed opportunities made it an uphill battle for the Knights. Fredericksburg Heritage ultimately claimed a 58-24 victory.
Heritage now moves on to face Bryan St. Joseph for a spot in the State Championship game, set for December 5th in Waco. Best of luck to Heritage as they continue their quest for another title in their remarkable football legacy.
