The basketball season is underway for the Faith Academy Knights and Lady Knights, with both teams showing promise and determination on the court.

Lady Knights: Strong Start and Impressive Wins

The Lady Knights have started the season with a commendable 4-3 record. Their journey began on November 19 with a decisive victory against Prairie Lea, finishing 47-23. Leading the charge was Jayleen Jackson with 21 points, followed by Lilly Kuespert with 11, Haley Gillen with 10, and contributions from Jasmin Becerra and Payton Eckermann with 2 points each.

Continuing their campaign, the Lady Knights participated in a tournament at Lifestyle Christian School in Conroe, earning a 1-1 record. They secured a solid win against Katy Faith West with a score of 38-16. Scoring leaders included Jayleen Jackson with an impressive 26 points, Haley Gillen adding 7, and Lilly Kuespert contributing 5.

After a short Thanksgiving break, the Lady Knights competed in the Victoria Faith Tournament, finishing 2-2 and clinching the bronze bracket. Despite being limited to just five players, they dominated their opponents on the final day of the tournament with a combined score of 82-20. Top scorers for the tournament were Haley Gillen with 56 points, Lilly Kuespert with 32, Jayleen Jackson with 21, Peyton Eckermann with 14, and both Luisa Morrison and Jasmin Becerra with 6 points each.

The Lady Knights are set to begin district play on December 10 against Founders Christian, followed by participation in the Runge Tournament on December 13 and 14. Players of the Week honors were awarded to Lilly Kuespert and Haley Gillen for their outstanding performances.

 

 

Knights: Building Momentum After Football Playoffs

The Knights opened their season with a 1-3 record at the Victoria Faith Tournament, a strong effort considering they had only three practices due to their extended football playoff run.

In their first game, the Knights faced Austwell-Tivoli, losing 44-34. Gage Wilson led the team with 13 points, while Everett Yates added 9, Travis Woodley scored 6, and Josh Stark, Dyllan Olivares, and Andrew Stoltz contributed 2 points each. The second game showcased their resilience, as they defeated the Victoria Gators 55-45. Scoring highlights included Gage Wilson with 15 points, Everett Yates with 10, and additional contributions from Dyllan Olivares, Travis Woodley, Josh Stark, CT Pillow, and Wyatt Davis.

The third game saw the Knights playing shorthanded, with five players absent for the SAT. They fell to Victoria Faith, 63-32, despite strong efforts from CT Pillow with 11 points and Josh Stark with 10. The final game against the Victoria Cobras was a nail-biter, ending in a narrow 54-51 loss. Scoring leaders included Travis Woodley with 11 points, Everett Yates with 9, and contributions from Gage Wilson, Josh Stark, CT Pillow, Dyllan Olivares, and Mike Satterwhite.

Looking ahead, the Knights will begin district play on December 10 at Founders Academy in Spring and then head to the Runge Tournament on December 13 and 14. Players of the Week were Gage Wilson and Everett Yates for their exceptional efforts on the court.

Both teams are poised for success as they advance into district play and continue to build on their early-season performances.
