In February, the Extension Education Association (EEA) of Austin County hosted its annual soup, sandwich, and dessert meal to recognize the Austin County Commissioners Court and dedicated community partners. This longstanding event serves as an opportunity to express gratitude for the Commissioners Court’s ongoing support and the contributions of community organizations that help strengthen the county.
The theme for this year’s gathering, “Blazing the Trail with TEEA,” emphasized the unity and resilience of the community. A quilt motif was selected to symbolize the care, commitment, and history woven into Extension Education, reflecting the lasting impact of these efforts in Austin County. Each quilt square, like the individuals and organizations working together, plays a crucial role in creating something meaningful and enduring. The event was planned and coordinated by the Expansion Committee, chaired by Jessie Kokemor, Knellen Quinteros, and Mary Smentek of North Austin County EEA. Committee members Joan Buenger, Claudia Cieslewicz, Jinnie Kolojaco, and Jo Ann Reichle assisted with organizing the gathering and ensuring its success. Their efforts ensured a warm and welcoming environment for attendees, fostering an atmosphere of camaraderie and appreciation.
More than just a shared meal, the event provided an important opportunity for EEA members to engage directly with the Commissioners Court, discuss organizational achievements, and highlight the benefits of Extension Education programs throughout the county.
