The Austin County Soil and Water Conservation District is proud to present two Conservation Education Awards this year to Mr. Rod Vincent, and Mr. Jacob Diezi.

We are very blessed in this community to have two recipients that value education as much as these two teachers do. They are both Ag Science Teachers at Bellville High School, and have made a commitment to Agricultural education a mainstay of their lives.

Shop Austin County 300 x 600 Second TryRod Vincent graduated from Texas A & M University in 1987 with Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Agricultural Education and has been a teacher for over 28 years. He taught at New Caney High School for 16 years, and has been teaching at Bellville High School for the last 12 years. Mr. Vincent is a member of the Austin County Fair Association and the Bellville FFA Alumni. He and his wife, Belinda, absolutely love being a part of the Bellville Community.

Mr. Vincent excels in teaching students all aspects of Agricultural Science including plant ID, soils, conservation and wildlife along with many other agricultural skills. Rod helps prepare the students by participating in several contests each year, including the District’s essay contest and the West of the Brazos Contest too. Rod trains these young folks to be competitive in these contests, by using their knowledge of wildlife, range, and soils. And a major goal that was set by Mr. Vincent and with the hard work of the students, was to win the State Contest in Range and Pasture Evaluation. This goal was met this year when they won 1st Place, and then went on to win 3rd place in the National Contest.

Mr. Jaob Diezi, IV is not only a teacher of agriculture, but a lifelong student of conservation himself. He says that there is a full lesson to be learned concerning conservation and preserving our natural resources. Living and working in Austin County has given Mr. Diezi the teaching tools used to help the students learn through activities in the classroom while still having fun and interesting experiences. High standards are placed upon the students so that they will become good and productive citizens of our community.

Mr. Jacob Diezi IV graduated from Blinn in 1997 with an Associate’s Degree in Science and in 1999 from Texas A & M with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Development in Education. Mr. Diezi started teaching in Clear Lake in 1998 for a couple of years, but has spent the last 16 years in Bellville. Jacob and his wife Wendy have 3 kids and have been an integral part of this county ever since. He has been a member of the Austin County Fair Board and also participates as a member of the Houston Livestock Calf Scramble Committee.
