On Thursday, February 19, Executive Director Megan Kendrick, Social Media and Marketing Coordinator Lori Dernehl, and four Bellville Chamber of Commerce Board Members welcomed Congressman Michael Cloud and members of his staff to the Chamber office for an introductory meeting focused on building connections and strengthening future collaboration.
The visit was initiated by Congressman Cloud, who was eager to personally introduce himself and his team while establishing relationships with local leadership ahead of upcoming redistricting changes. The meeting provided an opportunity for open conversation about community priorities, economic development, and ways federal offices can remain accessible and responsive to local needs.
Congressman Cloud currently represents Texas’s 27th Congressional District, which includes portions of the Coastal Bend region. Following redistricting changes set to take effect in January 2027, Austin County will become part of his district. Cloud shared his enthusiasm about working closely with the Bellville Chamber of Commerce and the broader Austin County community as he prepares to take on representation of the area.
Chamber leaders said the meeting marked a positive first step in establishing communication and cooperation, helping ensure local businesses, organizations, and residents have a strong connection with their future congressional representative. The visit also reinforced the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to advocating for the growth and success of the Bellville and Austin County communities.
