NASA Expedition 71 Astronauts to Conduct Research aboard Space Station
Aboard the International Space Station, NASA astronauts Matthew Dominick, Michael Barratt, Jeanette Epps, and Tracy C. Dyson will support studies on neurological organoids, plant stress responses, and body fluid shifts as part of Expedition 71, scheduled for launch in February and March. The investigations include modeling neuroinflammation using patient-derived iPSCs, studying plant responses to microgravity and UV radiation, and examining the potential of thigh pressure cuffs to mitigate headward fluid shifts in astronauts. These studies aim to improve diagnostics, enhance plant cultivation technologies, and develop countermeasures for health issues in space and on Earth.
