PASADENA, Texas – San Jacinto College-Central took advantage of Blinn College struggling on offense and shot out to a 20-point halftime lead and held on for an 88-72 victory over the Buccaneers in Pasadena Jan. 21.

San Jacinto came out strong and controlled the lead early as was able to squash any rally that Blinn made to cut into the lead.

ACBS animated gifVicktor Arnick led the Buccaneers with 20 points while Ja’Cardo Hawkins added 14 points on the night. Jalan McCloud scored 11 points and Lionheart Leslie chipped in with 10 points.

“San Jacinto came out and played lights out,” said Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher. “We shot some quick shots and they took advantage of the misses.”

San Jacinto took the ball directly to the heart of the Blinn defense after the Buccaneers offense stalled and led 50-30 at the half.

Blinn was able to cut the lead to 12 in the second half with better effort but San Jacinto was able to combat the runs of Blinn and hold on to its lead. With the loss, Blinn’s conference record falls to 6-4 and 14-5 overall.

Blinn will be back home Jan. 24 when it hosts Lone Star College-Cy-Fair at 7:30 p.m.
