In the opening game, Nick Masarik pitched his second consecutive strong start to get the win as he went all seven innings while allowing three hits and striking out 12 batters.

โ€œI think that my preparation is allowing me to put together a solid start,โ€ Masarik said. โ€œI gave up a run early on but I knew that if I could keep it at one run then my teammates would have my back and they did.โ€

Patrick King, Jay Anderson and Austen Swift each had two RBIs in the victory as both Swift and Anderson hit a home run in the win.

Scoring for both teams was hard to come by early on as Frank Phillips scored first to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. That lead didnโ€™t last too long as George Pappas started the fifth with a double and later scored after a bunt by Walker Winders and a Frank Phillips error to tie the game at 1-1.

Swift was able to give the Buccaneers a lead with a two-run home run over the fence in center for a 3-1 advantage.

Winders followed with an RBI double to right to make it 5-1. Swift was a big reason for the offensive explosion as he went 4 for 5 with two home runs, a single and a triple while knocking in four. Swift brought in the game-winning run in the ninth and was only a double away from hitting for the cycle.

โ€œJust trying to help my team any way that I can whether that be to hit the ball out of the yard or hit a single,โ€ Swift said.

MacNamee also supplied some offense with two home runs and a double to knock in three total. Winders brought in two runs in the victory. Cody Moos came on in the middle innings for the Buccaneers to pitch three and struck out seven of the 12 batters he faced in the scoreless frames.
