Three Blinn College women’s basketball players were recently recognized with Region XIV accolades.

Following a strong campaign in which the Buccaneers finished 24-8 overall and 10-4 in region play, sophomores Tocarra JohnsonJonesha Neal, and  were honored by the league.

Johnson was named all-region and all-conference following a stellar second season. The forward averaged 11.7 points per game and 10.1 rebounds, and bumped those averages to 13.1 and 12.1, respectively, against region opponents.

Neal, a guard, was also named all-region and all-conference after finishing her second season as a Buc averaging 11.5 points, six assists, four rebounds, and 1.72 steals per contest.

Kincade was named the region’s Defensive Player of the Year after anchoring a stellar Blinn defense which allowed just 55.7 points per game. The second-year forward averaged 5.8 rebounds, including three defensive boards per outing, and posted 1.25 steals. She also recorded 13 total blocks while serving as one of Blinn’s best on-ball defenders and basket protectors. Kincade is the first Blinn women’s player to win the region’s DPOY award.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 50 national championships since 1987.
