Blinn Names 131 Student Athletes To Athletic Director’s Honor Roll

The Blinn College District has named 131 student athletes to the Fall 2018 Don Wilhelm Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

To be eligible, student athletes must post a 3.0 or better grade point average (GPA) and pass a minimum of 12 credit hours of college-level courses. Out of 380 student athletes, 34 percent made the honor roll.

Thirteen student athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average: softball players Emelyn Coussou, Courtney Ogle, and Ashley Richardson; volleyball player Lauren Symington; cheerleaders Ashlyn Beard, Gabriela Pollard, Paiton Priddy, and Bailey Rubal; baseball players Brett Minnich and Kyle Sweeney; dance team member Blair Jacobusse; and women’s soccer players Alyssa Correa and Desiree Yanis.

Baseball had the most honor roll students with 32, followed by 22 members on the cheer team.

“Blinn’s coaches and athletic staff are proud of the accomplishments our honor roll student athletes achieved,” Athletic Director Scott Schumacher said. “These student athletes demonstrate what our athletic department looks for, not only on the field or court, but in the classroom. They continue to impress us by setting the bar high.”

The honor roll is named after former Blinn Athletic Director Don Wilhelm, an NJCAA Hall of Famer who served the College for 10 years.
